Because you deserve it
Feel sexy and confident
Apart from the unpleasant visual impact and the psychological discomfort it causes, excess skin can force you to continue wearing baggy clothes and prevent you from doing various physical or sporting activities you enjoy. In other words, it prevents you from enjoying the results and living your life as you want. Unfortunately, although you have worked hard and managed to lose many pounds, your body still does not look as you would like because of the folds of skin remaining in the abdomen, arms and thighs, but I, Dr. Bortolini Alin, specialist in plastic surgery can help you get rid of this unsightly appearance and regain your self-esteem!
Thus, by removing skin folds and rearranging the excess tegument, these problems can be solved, bringing an additional benefit by “cutting” some pounds that are unresponsive to diet.Postbariatric surgery (total body lift) is the surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen, arms, thighs, and then it can be combined with breast implant and breast lift. Pre-existing scars on the abdomen (e.g. caesarean section) can also be removed. This procedure can be combined with liposuction and many patients are recommended both procedures.Post-bariatric surgery is NOT a weight loss surgery and is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise but is indicated after a massive weight loss and reaching a stable weight threshold over a longer period of time.
The body lift operation can be performed in one stage but it is preferable to stage it over several serial surgeries (2-3) in order to have an easier recovery and to decrease the risks associated with such a large operation.
Recent studies show that the removal of excess skin in people who have had bariatric surgery influences eating behaviour and improves psychological well-being, helping the person to maintain a low weight and avoid regaining weight
During the consultation we will discuss everything involved in the surgery and I will answer any questions you may have. We will measure, discuss and choose the best option for you. You will need to have blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound.
Your health will be assessed (any illnesses, allergies, usual medications). Then an abdominal ultrasound and blood tests are recommended.
Before the operation it is recommended to avoid the use of anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin for at least 14 days prior to the operation (they promote bleeding).
Contraceptives should be stopped 4-6 weeks before surgery because they increase the risk of thromboembolic complications (blood clots).
Excessive exposure to the sun or the sun should be avoided before surgery.
It is also recommended to stop smoking at least 1 month before or at least to reduce considerably the number of cigarettes smoked per day (it hinders the healing process and complications may occur).
Post bariatric cosmetic surgery (total body lift) is not performed during the menstrual cycle.
On the day of the operation you must not consume food and liquids for at least 6 hours before the operation.
It is recommended to avoid gel nails or nail polish because they interfere with the anaesthesia machines and body creams in the morning.
It is very large in scope, is performed under general anesthesia and the duration of the surgery is, on average, over 6-7 hours.
Excess skin and fat is removed from the abdomen, arms, thighs
At the end the incision is closed with an intradermal suture with the appearance of a fine line (the final scar does not depend only on the suture, but on how your body heals).
Such a practical surgery combines in any variations the following operations: abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, thigh lift, breast lift and breast augmentation.
At the end of the operation, elastic braces are applied to all the treated areas.
Hospitalization is about 3 days (depending on the operated areas)
I, Dr. Bortolini, recommend that during the first days of recovery you rest well, hydrate, meals should be light, small and regular.
Postoperative pain is usually of medium-significant intensity. However, it should be borne in mind that the operation is a major one and recovery will be long. Bruising (ecchymosis) and swelling (oedema) of the operated areas disappear within two weeks.
Although it is a major operation, the spectacular post-operative results are worth the effort!
In the first days after the operation, I had to follow an analgesic and antibiotic treatment for 5-7 days.
The drain tubes are removed after a day or two.
The sutures can be removed (if absorbable sutures are used), or removed 14 days after the operation (in the case of non-absorbable sutures).
Discontinuation of activity is required for approximately 2 weeks postoperatively.
Physical exertion should be avoided completely for the first 2 months and then resumed progressively.
Postoperative scars may be slightly reddish for the first few months postoperatively, after which they tend to fade (up to 1 – 2 years postoperatively). Prolonged sun exposure or sun exposure should be avoided for the first 9-12 months postoperatively. (the final scarring depends not only on the suture, but also on how your body heals)
The elastic corset should be worn for a minimum of 4 – 6 weeks to encourage the skin to settle.
Post-operative check-ups will be at first every 2-3 days to 2 weeks and then at 3,6,12 months.
Although the results of the operation are permanent, there are cases where they may be influenced by large weight fluctuations or pregnancy. For this reason, it would be better for those who want to lose substantial weight and women who are planning a pregnancy to postpone this type of surgery.
The price of a post-bariatric surgery (total body lift) varies a lot depending on the particularities of each person (the mix of operations required depending on the areas where he has lost the most weight) and the days of hospitalization and includes :
