About sclerotherapy (treatment of varicose veins)
After sclerotherapy (treatment of varicose veins)
How much does a sclerotherapy procedure cost?
Do you have broken blood vessels (venectatia) on your legs?Venectatia on your legs look like thin, spider web-like lines, a millimetre to a few centimetres long, and are red, purple or blue-green in colour.
They are actually vascular dilations in the skin (venectatia in the specialist language) caused by the fragility of the vessel wall, which is genetically inherited in 90% of cases. Find out how you can get rid of this unsightly problem with treatments that work, so you won’t be ashamed to expose your legs in your favourite dresses and skirts!
I, Dr. Bortolini, a plastic surgery specialist, practice sclerotherapy for the treatment of dilated veins in the legs and thighs.Sclerotherapy is a simple and effective procedure in which unsightly superficial visible vessels (venectatia, reticular veins), which are visible as networks on the skin, are treated.
Sclerotherapy is considered the “gold standard” for treating small vessels in the lower limbs, has been used since the 1930s and is free of genuine risks and has guaranteed efficacy, with their closure having a long-lasting effect
The sclerotherapy procedure is done with anesthesia and has minimal local discomfort. The sclerosing agent (the substance that will close the vein) is injected into the vein with a very fine needle. The sclerosing agent will produce inflammation, which will cause the vessel to close. Once the sclerosing agent is injected, the vein turns white within a few minutes. One session lasts about 30 minutes.
After a single procedure a good part of the vessels fade but never all (between 50%-70%)! Frequently at least one more session is needed every few days to treat the rest of the vessels that have not closed since the first session.
The treatment is definitive (once treated the vessel does not reappear) but with the passage of time (in years) unfortunately it is not possible to prevent future varicose veins in other areas.
The recovery is immediate, the results are spectacular and are maintained over time!
After the sclerotherapy procedure the colour of the vessels changes to red-violet then dark brown and then pearly white and gradually disappear.
You will be able to resume work and activities within the first 24 hours.
Sterile dressings and an elastic bandage will be applied to the injected areas for 2-3 days.
I, Dr. Bortolini, recommend compression stockings for 2-3 weeks.
Anti-inflammatory and sometimes even anticoagulant (Clexane, Fraxiparine).
Early mobilization and walking is recommended, without strenuous exercise.
The price is calculated according to the number of areas treated.
