3D Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery with silicone implants is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. This procedure is aimed at women who want to improve the appearance and size of their breasts. There are many reasons why patients choose this procedure: insufficient development since adolescence, post-natal changes, weight loss or simply the desire to have larger and more shapely breasts.
Breast implants not only increase the size of the breasts, but also contribute to better symmetry and form an aesthetically pleasing profile. In addition, patients may experience an increase in self-confidence and comfort in their choice of clothing.
At the BE PERFECT by Dr. Bortolini clinic, we use high-quality silicone implants from reputable brands such as Mentor. Whether you prefer a round or natural (anatomical) look, or you want a small or large size, each implant is customized to fit each patient’s needs and desires.
The breast augmentation procedure not only increases breast volume, but can also correct any asymmetries, giving you the breasts you’ve always wanted. Each patient benefits from a personalised approach, ensuring the results meet expectations and harmonise with body proportions.
For those seeking a more extensive transformation, breast implant surgery can be combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures, such as liposuction, to further contour the silhouette. This integrated beauty concept allows for a holistic approach to body aesthetics, ensuring a harmonious and natural end result.
If you’re concerned about your choice of breast implants, it’s important to know the differences between the two main options: anatomical and round implants. The decision is influenced by the natural shape and conformation of your breasts, as well as the desired aesthetic result.
Anatomical implants, also known as teardrop implants, give a more natural look to your breasts. They are ideal if you want a subtle augmentation and are concerned about a discreet breast appearance:
Round implants are popular choices for women who want significant breast enlargement and well-defined cleavage. These implants can provide a fuller and more accentuated appearance to the breasts:
The choice between anatomical and round implants depends on individual preference and doctor’s recommendations. It is essential to discuss your expectations openly and choose the most suitable option for you with your doctor.
Anatomical silicone breast implants, also known as “teardrop implants”, offer a more natural and discreet profile. Their advantages include:
Round implants are known for their more rounded upper pole, giving the breasts a larger and fuller appearance. However, their features may include:
In terms of cost, it’s important to know that anatomical implants are usually around €200 more expensive than round ones. However, both types of implants offer the same quality and are manufactured to ensure patient safety and comfort.
During the consultation we will discuss everything involved in the procedure, and I, Dr. Bortolini, will answer any questions you may have. We will take measurements, discuss and choose together the silicone implant that best suits you!
Your health will be evaluated (any diseases, allergies, medications you are taking). Afterwards, a breast ultrasound/mammogram and blood tests are recommended.
Before the operation it is recommended to avoid the use of anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, nurofen, ketonal – they promote bleeding) for at least 14 days.
Contraceptives should be stopped 4-6 weeks before surgery because they increase the risk of complications (blood clots).
Excessive exposure to the sun or the sun should be avoided a few days before surgery.
It is also recommended to stop or at least reduce the number of cigarettes smoked per day (it hinders the healing process and complications may occur).
The operation is not performed during the menstrual cycle!
On the day of the operation you will not eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours before the operation.
It is recommended to avoid gel nails or nail polish because they interfere with the anaesthesia machines. It is also not advisable to use body creams in the morning.
Breast implant surgery is performed under general anesthesia and lasts 1-2 hours.
The operation consists of inserting a breast implant behind the mammary gland (retroglandular) or behind the pectoral muscle (retromuscular). Both techniques have advantages and disadvantages and during the consultation I will tell you which is the best option for you.
The size of the implants is primarily determined by the width of your breasts and chest and the shape and projection you desire.
Three main types of incisions can be used to insert silicone implants:
The most commonly chosen and the one with the fewest complications is the inframammary incision. This is often preferred for patients who have not yet had children or are planning to have children in the future, as this technique is less likely to affect breastfeeding.
The silicone implant is most commonly placed submuscularly, which can provide a more natural appearance and reduce the chances of postoperative complications. In specific situations, based on the patient’s anatomy and desires, the implant can also be positioned subglandularly.
Breast implant surgery lasts between 1 and 2 hours, with a hospital stay of usually one day. The minimally traumatic technique I use, including the use of ELLMAN forceps, minimizes bleeding and reduces the need for drainage tubes, which contributes to a faster and more comfortable recovery for the patient.
The sutures used are absorbable and of the highest quality (Monocryl) to ensure optimal healing. There is no need for a subsequent visit to remove the sutures, making the post-operative process easier for the patient.
At the end of the operation, a special bra will be applied, which must be worn day and night for 2 months. This helps prevent the implants from shifting and ensures the best post-operative results.
I, Dr. Bortolini, recommend that during the first days of recovery you rest well, hydrate, meals should be light, small and regular.
Postoperative pain is usually minimal-moderate, slightly different according to each person’s perception. It is felt as a heaviness, tightness or as a strong muscle fever in the pectoral muscle, and decreases from day to day and after about 4-5 days the pain disappears.
Support in the hands when getting in and out of bed should be avoided (it is ideal to have a person who can help you in the first few days postoperatively). After each operation, swelling and bruising may occur and will disappear within 2 weeks.
During the first month it is preferable to sleep on your back and not on your side (to avoid displacement of the implants and subsequent asymmetries).
In the first days after the operation you should follow an analgesic and antibiotic treatment for 5-7 days. Physical exertion and sports should be avoided for at least 2 months.
Wearing a seat belt should be avoided for at least 2-3 weeks, as should driving a car.
Check-ups will be every 2-3 days at first and every 3,6,12 months thereafter.
To monitor the implant (spontaneous ruptures, etc.) and the breasts, I recommend an annual ultrasound consultation by Dr Bortolini, plastic surgeon.
Attention – The final result after breast implant surgery can be evaluated only after 1 year after surgery!
Frequently, the scars look pink and swollen in the first months after the operation, but then they become whitish and less visible. The scars depend a lot on how each patient heals and sometimes, unfortunately, they can become white or brown.
The price of breast augmentation surgery with a silicone implant varies depending on the type of implant and includes absolutely everything:
