You are an ideal candidate for “Postnatal Cosmetic Surgery” if you are a healthy mother of any age who has stopped breastfeeding for at least 6-9 months and is not planning any further pregnancies.
If you are planning to have further pregnancies, it is best to postpone the procedure for the best and most stable results.

BEFORE POSTNATAL COSMETIC SURGERY
During the consultation for postnatal cosmetic surgery we will discuss everything involved in the procedure, and I will answer any questions you may have. We will take measurements, discuss and choose together the implant that best suits you!
Your health will be assessed (any illnesses, allergies, medications you are taking). Afterwards, a breast ultrasound/mammogram, abdominal ultrasound and blood tests are recommended.
Before the operation it is recommended to avoid using anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, nurofen, ketonal – they promote bleeding) for at least 14 days.
Contraceptives should be stopped 4-6 weeks before surgery because they increase the risk of complications (blood clots).
Excessive exposure to the sun or the sun should be avoided a few days before the operation.
It is also recommended to stop or at least reduce the number of cigarettes smoked per day (it hinders the healing process and complications may occur).
The operation is not performed during the menstrual cycle!
On the day of the operation you will not eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours before the operation.
It is recommended to avoid gel nails or nail polish because they interfere with the anaesthesia machines. It is also not advisable to use body creams in the morning.
MOMMY MAKEOVER
The mommy makeover is not a procedure per se, but a mix of procedures, customized to your needs.
It actually combines liposuction or abdominoplasty with breast lift and implant and vaginal rejuvenation. I know it sounds complicated, but I, Dr. Bortolini, after your consultation I will tell you what surgery you need to correct what is bothering you and together we will choose the right option for you.
The anaesthesia is general, the duration of the operation varies depending on the number of operations combined and is between 3-6 hours. In some limited cases (miniabdominoplasty, lipoabdominoplasty) it can also be performed under spinal anaesthesia.
At the end of the operation, an elastic corset or elastic bustier is applied to the treated areas.
AFTER POSTNATAL COSMETIC SURGERY
Hospitalisation for postnatal aesthetic surgery (postnatal remodelling) is approximately 1 – 3 days (depending on the extent of the operation, type of anaesthesia, general condition of the patient).
Postoperative pain is usually of medium intensity. However, it must be taken into account that if several procedures are combined and the operation is of a large extent, recovery will sometimes be long.
Bruising (ecchymosis) and swelling (oedema) of the operated areas disappear in about two weeks.
Although it is a larger operation with a longer recovery, the spectacular post-operative results are worth all the effort!
In the first days after the operation, I had to follow an analgesic and antibiotic treatment for 5-7 days. The drainage tubes are removed after a day or two.
The sutures are of the highest quality (Monocryl) and are removed 14 days after the operation.
It is necessary to interrupt activity for about 2 weeks postoperatively.
Physical exertion will be avoided completely for the first 2 months, and then gradually resumed.
Postoperative scars will be slightly red for the first few months postoperatively, after which they tend to fade with time (up to 1-2 years postoperatively). Prolonged sun exposure or sun exposure should be avoided for the first 9-12 months postoperatively. (The final scar does not only depend on the suture, but also on how your body heals).
The elastic corset should be worn for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to encourage the skin to settle.
Post-operative check-ups will be at first at 2-3 days and then at 3,6,12 months.
Although the results are permanent, there are cases where they may be influenced by large weight fluctuations or pregnancy. For this reason, it would be better to postpone this type of surgery if you are planning a pregnancy.
