BEFORE DOUBLE CHIN SURGERY

Your health will be evaluated (possible diseases, allergies, usual medications). Afterwards, blood tests are recommended.
Before the operation it is recommended to avoid the use of anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin for at least 14 days before the operation (they promote bleeding).
It is also recommended to stop smoking at least 1 month before the operation or at least to reduce considerably the number of cigarettes smoked per day (it hinders the healing process and complications may occur).
On the day of the operation you should not consume food and liquids for at least 6 hours before the operation.
CERVICAL LIPOSUCTION SURGERY (DOUBLE CHIN)
If it is only to treat the neck area (the neck) liposuction can be done under local anesthesia with or without a little sedation for patient comfort.
The approach incision (scar) – is usually single, small 3mm under the chin. Initially a fluid (containing anaesthetic and a vasoconstrictor substance) is infiltrated into the approached areas in order to reduce trauma and bleeding. Then a thin tube (cannula) is inserted through these incisions to dislodge the excess fatty tissue by means of a duct-vine motion. This excess is then removed by suction.
The liposuction of the double chin (cervical) lasts on average 1 hour.
At the end of the operation, an elastic corset or elastic pants is applied to the treated areas.
After liposuction surgery for double chin
If the cervical liposuction surgery was done with only local anesthesia the patient can go home. If sedation or general anaesthesia is required the patient stays 1 night in the cosmetic surgery clinic for supervision and specialist treatment.
Postoperative pain is usually of low intensity. Bruising (ecchymosis) and swelling (oedema) in the operated areas disappear within two weeks.
In the first days after the operation, analgesic and antibiotic treatment must be followed for 5-7 days.
The elastic corset must be worn for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to help the skin settle.
Physical exertion and sports should be avoided for at least 1 month and should be resumed gradually. Massage of the liposuctioned areas can be started immediately after the bruising and swelling have disappeared.
You should come for a check-up every 2-3 days to 2 weeks and then every 3,6,12 months.
