Botulinum toxin procedures and fillets for young patients
First of all I am of the opinion that botulinum toxin and fillets (hyaluronic acid) should be done in such a way that the patient has a more natural look. The skin is like paper that folds over and over again billions of times throughout life when the muscles of the face contract. Botulinum toxin (botulinum toxin) is a neuromuscular blocker and weakens or in higher doses even paralyses the muscles, and by not contracting they basically prevent wrinkles by stopping this skin folding phenomenon. Practically during the period that the botulinum toxin is active, the muscles do not contract so much, the skin does not become dull and wrinkles do not evolve and the skin does not age on the treated area. Fillets are used to augment, to enlarge certain areas of the face or to blur and fill certain wrinkles. They should not be in excess and when someone sees you they should not be the first thing to stand out. Hyaluronic acid can be used for lip augmentation or lip contouring and can have fantastic effects, many patients often say that it has actually changed their lives and increased their self-confidence but unfortunately used in excess or incorrectly it can create the much known “duckbill” look. I tailor these procedures to each individual person’s anatomy in such a way that the results are desired. The use of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid requires the same meticulousness and attention to detail as any other surgery. Communication, listening and understanding the patient’s wishes and creating a personalized plan according to the anatomical particularities of each individual are the most important things. Now botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid injections seem to be done everywhere and by everyone, untrained medical staff or sometimes not even medical staff and in all kinds of untrained places, salons etc. and patients have the impression that they are extremely simple and risk-free, which is false. Incorrectly used, they can have both medical complications (necrosis, infections, etc.) and unpleasant aesthetic complications. When I inject hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin, I try to create a fresh and bright look, but at the same time the patient must keep the expressiveness and naturalness of his/her features, thus creating the best version of each person and erasing the years from the face. Unfortunately, every day we see both on TV and on social media many unsightly, unpleasant results such as oversized lips with the appearance of a duck’s beak, joker/mephistopheles eyebrows or over-injected and immobile cheeks like a squirrel.
Hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin procedures are both a science (that’s why I’m always up to date with what’s new and present at congresses) and an art, a vision of beauty that depends on each doctor and that’s why it is very important to take care of who you leave one of the most precious things in your hands, namely your face, because unfortunately some things done wrong are extremely difficult to correct or almost impossible with high costs and long recovery period.
